Revetments & Erosion Control
Erosion control and bank stabilisation is a common problem on waterways and water bodies. Bioengineering is one way to deal with the issue, using vegetation to stabilise and protect water edges and banks.
There are many ways of utilising natural products to control erosion. Miles Water has the experience to ensure that the appropriate products and techniques are used to fulfil the demands of each location; balancing aesthetics with performance, budgets and environmental sustainability.
Whether it be in a lake, pond, river, reservoir, or other water course, we utilise a vast range of erosion control products selected to provide the most appropriate solution, whilst fulfilling any other site-specific requirements. Examples of erosion control solutions used by Miles Water Engineering:
- Coir Roll – planted/unplanted
- Coir mats
- Brush wood fascines
- Rock rolls/gabion baskets
- Willow revetments/reed bed establishment
- Turf reinforcement mats
Miles Water Engineering has also employed more conventional methods of erosion control, for example:
- Geo grids, e.g. Tenax, Encamat
- Piling
- Concrete shuttering
- Sandbag walls
- Grids of old tyres
- Wooden board edging
- Stone, rock or brick walls
